Continuing Professional Development
Current requirements within the professions call for all professionals to extend and update their range of professional expertise through the vehicle of Continuing Professional Development.

From the 1st January 2000 it became mandatory for Chartered Architects to commit to a programme of Continuing Professional Development.

The practice has been committed to this programme throughout the lead-in period and supports the mandatory ongoing programme

The Building Clinic
First introduced by the practice in 1993 to celebrate the practice silver jubilee. The clinic offers short, pre-selected periods where a client can attend the practice to obtain free with no obligation, independent advice from the principal on building subjects such as: Grants, Maintenance, or how to go about a building project.

Speciality experience
The practice has developed speciality experience in the design of furniture, decorative glass and commemorative monuments:

Furniture design
Usually incorporated into a scheme of full interior design which tackles the conceptual problems of colour, space, texture and form and involves the selection design and co-ordination of furniture, fabrics, surface finishes, ironmongery and lighting.

Decorative glass
Used for domestic, ecclesiastical or commemorative purposes and involves the conceptual designs and organisation of the studio work in production. Liaison with the glass artists and studios. Commissions include
  • Restoration of Grade 1 listed building stained glass windows
  • Commemorative sand blasted and appliqué windows
  • Domestic full stained glass gablet windows and doors
Monuments
The architect is a designer but not only of buildings. The architects training enables and prepares the architect to tackle almost any problem of design. The initial classical training procured by the principal has enabled the practice to develop associations with monumental sculptors. The practice has been involved in commemorative stones, garden follies and jubilee dedication works of art.
